Fun frigid Saturday here in Micheegan!
Tore into the lovely wife's car to replace the ignition switch.
Scraped off the red loctite but couldn't find an allen wrench that
was the right size. From the beautiful angle provide as I stred through
the opening of the dash I couldn't tell that the set screws uses a
blade screwdriver not an allen wrench! This pertinent information was
graciously provided by our own Robert Myers.
So while I was in there I decided to unplug the wiring harness from the
old switch (still attached to the car) and plug it into the new switch.
Well that went simply enough, but when I tried to start the car the
lights came on, the beeper beeped, heck even the dog barked (he was in
the garage with me) but the engine DID NOT turn over.
Plug the harness back into the old switch and start the car fine, but
of course I have to hold the key in this certain spot to keep the car
running. :-(
So I lucked out and received a DEFECTIVE switch, fun fun, can't finish
this project this weekend!
What's the moral of the story, ...parts fail and new parts can be
defective but S-car list friends are AWESOME as always!
Chris
