Ok so i bought a fuel pump for my 95 S6 from good old Shokan. They sell
a Pierberg pump for my cars application. It is about 3/4" taller than
the stock VDO pump that came out. My mechanic put the new pump back in,
and he said he clipped the top down. So now the pump he believes is
sitting too low with about 1mm of space between the feed at the bottom
and the bottom of the tank. Now comes the fun part... We went for a test
drive, and the car stumbles real bad when any gas is given to it. Keep
in mind it drove perfect when i brought it in; i was just having
starting problems, and we had determined through earlier posts it was
fuel related. Now the problem is Shokan and my mechanic both say since
the (new 3/4" taller) pump is clipped into the stock location that its
sitting to low in the tank and thats whats causing the stumbling when on
the throttle hard. This is kinda funny cause the car ran perfect, 22 lbs
of boost and no stumbling before the fuel pump install today? With the
pump prolly barely at all off the floor of the tank cause it to starve
for fuel when the car is pushed harder? I'M SO LOST! The new pump is not
bad by the way.
