[s-cars] Fuel Pump Woes!!!! HELP...

Ok so i bought a fuel pump for my 95 S6 from good old Shokan. They sell 
a Pierberg pump for my cars application. It is about 3/4" taller than 
the stock VDO pump that came out. My mechanic put the new pump back in, 
and he said he clipped the top down. So now the pump he believes is 
sitting too low with about 1mm of space between the feed at the bottom 
and the bottom of the tank. Now comes the fun part... We went for a test 
drive, and the car stumbles real bad when any gas is given to it. Keep 
in mind it drove perfect when i brought it in; i was just having 
starting problems, and we had determined through earlier posts it was 
fuel related. Now the problem is Shokan and my mechanic both say since 
the (new 3/4" taller) pump is clipped into the stock location that its 
sitting to low in the tank and thats whats causing the stumbling when on 
the throttle hard. This is kinda funny cause the car ran perfect, 22 lbs 
of boost and no stumbling before the fuel pump install today? With the 
pump prolly barely at all off the floor of the tank cause it to starve 
for fuel when the car is pushed harder? I'M SO LOST! The new pump is not 
bad by the way.
