[s-cars] Crank Case Pressure and Turbo Smoke?

Dave,
Ya..ya...I stopped by Napa about 7 minutes before they were closing
and we never found an inline PCV with the right OD dimensions of the
barbs ~1/2"...of course he probably wanted to just go home too.
So that is what I came home with. The drive in this AM didn't produce
any oil in the breather..but did still have some smoke coming off the
hot-side of the turbo. Could just be old oil so no beer is needed
yet....
What are the disadvantages besides pollution and potential oil in the
breather to this set-up compared to a catch-can? Does the Positive
crankcase pressure/ventilation help anything? I can see how the OEM
set-up could create a vacuum in the system to pull the gases through the
system..until the BPV opens as you stated. But isn't a catch can a
close-ended system?
Again this really is just a test to see if I am in the market for my 3rd
turbo :(
Bling...Bling ;)
Cody

(Dave....could be good beer) ;)
Good beer my ass! I didn't tell you to apply the bling factor, just to
buy a simple $5 PCV valve and stuff it in the hose. Somewhere along the
line Hap must have gotten in the last word! Give a little helpful
(hopefully) advice, and they run off to the chrome shop. Shees...
BTW, that won't provide any positive crankcase ventilation... but it
certainly won't allow for pressure return.
Good luck... let us know if it helped.
Dave
