Sounds like an air pocket. How's your coolant level? Even if the coolant level looks okay you should try adding some as it would help remove any air pockets that might be in the system. If the level readjusts after driving around, just keep adding a little bit daily until the level no longer drops down, though make sure you don't have any leaks as well.
