You don't need a VAG 1552 to get those readings.  You can use the
climate control (CC) computer:

Ignition on
Press and hold the recirculation button on the CC head
Press and hold the up arrow buttion
Release both buttons
"O1c" should appear - this is Channel 1
To select a different channel press the + or - temperature buttons
Channel 17 is  vehicle speed
Chanel 28 is engine RPM (in 100's)
Channel 51 is Engine Coolant Temperature in degress CC (you want 89 deg
C)
