I didn't get a response on whether you needed the tool to remove the bushing
from the front inner lower control arm bushing. I couldn't wait, and since
the weather was nice in NYC, and I had already removed my front struts, I took
a look. This work was done on a 95.5 S6.

The Bentley shows the bushing as having to be removed before you can pull
out the lower front control arm. Using a large screw driver as a wedge, I was
able to remove both lower control arms without much effort and no tool was
needed. If you do this job, you must remember to get new aluminum bushings. They
didn't come with my arms. You need to install them from the bottom with the
lower control arm already in place. I used a rubber mallet. It is also a good
idea to run your finger on the inside of the lower control arm bushings. I
had to use a large rat tail file on one arm, because of a ridge on the inside.
With the lower control arm in place, you can shimmy it around in order to
align the upper and lower holes. This separate bushing is needed to take up the
slop between the inner bushing and mounting bolt.

I installed the Blau kit which also included the four outer sway bar
bushings. All the bushings are supposed to be 30% stiffer.

BTW Ray, did you remember to replace these aluminum bushings the last time
you replaced your lower control arms?

Regards,

Robert
