[s-cars] Air Bag Light staying on?

My Air Bag warning light is now staying on all the time.  I had the recall done about 2+ years ago.  The dealer says that the recall only had a 1 year warranty on the parts they replaced. 

I understand that in the 1992 S4's, there is a 2x2 plug for the Air Bag Controller to connect to a VAG-1552, buried somewhere under the center console... but it is quite the job taking out the console (BTDT) just to plug in my VAG-COM to dump the code. 

Is there a way to display the flash code on the dash, without digging down to that 2x2 plug?
