Hi all,
Well, I've been off line for a day, so in catching up
with all the messages, I'm not sure who said what, but
I must thank Taka (at least I think it was you) for
backing me up on my BMW shifter opinion.
As far as the Miata goes, yes, they are certainly one
of the best sports cars made. They're too small for
me, so I could never really get comfortable in one and
they're entirely too slow off the line (especially the
older ones), but they handle supremely. As for the
shifter, I honestly don't remember what I thought of
it (it's been a while since I drove one), but since it
didn't leave that much of a lasting impression, I
guess I wasn't that wowed by it. On the other hand
one's tastes tend to change over time so maybe I
should try one out again.
As for the SE-R, ah yes, another wonderfully
affordable car, I've never enjoyed, but heard great
things about. I drove the last generation Civic Si,
that was a lot of fun, with a very engaging
personality and rewarding shifter, if not the best.
The opportunity to drive the Carrera GT will rest
solely on whether or not I am still with my present
employer. I was promised by the CEO that he would
allow me to drive his when it arrives this Spring. I'm
keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get fired by
then! Oh, and that he keeps his promise.
I'll keep you posted.
Best,
Alex
