In the US, for 01+ the aluminum mirror housings are a part of the
"sport trim" package.  It also includes the aluminum trim in the
interior and leather/alcantara seats.  My '01.5 S4 doesn't have this,
so it came with body-color mirror housings, birds eye maple wood
trim and "plain" silk nappa leather seats.
