Actually, what's wrong with towing with the S6?  Does anyone know what
the towing rating is on our cars.  I see the C5 S6 avant is rated up
to 4630 lbs in the UK.  The C4 S6 can't be too far behind.

Lists the C4 100 at 3087 lbs for  "5 cyl" and 3418 lbs for "V6" , I
would assume the turbo motor is capable of as much as the V6...
