Tom likely hit the same pothole that me and Swanson did:

I have Toyo Proxes FZ4's on my car and I just damaged one in a pothole.
Of
course the pothole cruise was the only 30 miles I have put on the car
since
December. Of course the FZ4 is discontinued. I had planned to buy two
rather than one or four because the remaining three tires have about 80%
tread left - too much wear to just put on one tire, but not enough to do
all
four. Long term, I had planned to run these until I hit the lotto, then
take the second set of stock wheels I have to be refinished and shod
with
something new. The current set - poor man's refinish but looking ok
even
without the polished lip - would become the track set.

What is the recommendation? Four of something else? Hunt around and
buy
two - anyone have a source? Buy two of something else (not crazy about
this idea)?

I chuckle at your misfortune as it feels good to not be me. That very
same thing happened right when I got my car, the dilemma of finding
discontinued 16" Pilot Sports, then only replacing one (luckily found
one). Then it happened again and again on my 17" Contis... never had a
flat in a car ever, now eaten 3 tires on the //S due to brick / pothole
/ nail. 'Yay'.

In one's Happy Place one buys 8 new tires and 4 wheels and has new road
tread and a set of mounted track rubber, simply because. Oh and of
course you'd refinish both sets of wheels (preferably Fuchs) with
polished lips.

In my Unhappy Place (read: reality / read: a set tires is f'n $$$ esp.
the way I 'use' them), I simply replaced the offended tire each time. I
finally got down to cord on one of the original of the 4, so I got my
use out of 'em.

Now, like many, I will be shopping for (4) xyz's??? 255s come spring.
Those Baloney / Maddock approved Goodyear F1s are likely out of my
reality, damn, f'n $199 a pop installed. Maybe I'll just mount up the
rockin 14" Coopers back on the ur4kq and not drive the //S? 8-)

In the meeeeeaaaaaantime:

fourteen inch hakk ones
seven to ten predicted
Zenlike oversteer

Good luck to you in your predicament.

-Paul maybe see you out and about Sat. night, burning fuel, sideways, K.
