[s-cars] Front suspension (clunk)(creak)

Can you please remind me: what part of the front suspension is it that
commonly wears/fails and creates a soft 'clunk' in parking maneuvers and a
hefty rattle noise on rough roads & bumps?  I have the symptoms that are
identical to when my rear control arms needed replacing; my car is at the
wrench now and I'd like to provide direction -- as they don't readily hear
the problem that's (subtly) driving me nuts.  (my rear arms failed
immediately upon lowering with Eibach, so this episode doesn't surprise me)
