Some denizens of "Woody's Lounge" (a great place BTW,
http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/wwwthreads.pl?Cat=) pointed to a MS
Knowledgebase article that suggests that the problem is that my "regular"
Outlook messages are configured to go out formatted in "rich text" format
and that the "winmail.dat" attachment indicates that the recipient does not
understand the format.

So, I have reconfigured my Outlook to use "plain text" format.  We will see
if that does it.  Thanks for all the help from those of you who have
studiously responded to my annoying test messages.
