Igor-
I don't know if they still use this as factory fill in new Audis, but
do you remember the smell of the factory fill windshield washer fluid
in your A4 or allroad? The stuff is pretty high percentage alcohol of
some sort, over 20%, IIRC. I know they used to sell this stuff at the
dealer, but I think no longer, as I have seen the typical blue stuff
in "Autobahn" branded bottles at the dealership in recent memory.
I was kind of shocked at how strong the really alcoholic windshield
washer fluid was in our A4. The same stuff is used by Volvo, BTW.
Factory fill is some potent stuff, so obviously the Europeans think
it's necessary.
I guess like everything else, we always get the watered down stuff in
the States.
The only bad thing that I forgot to mention about the Rain-X stuff is
that you get a pink or orange residue at the washer nozzle, often
drips onto the car paint. Looks nasty when you have a really clean
car. I think the pink is the bug stuff they use in the summer, winter
brew is orange.
