Forrest,
Hmmm, not good. My first guess would be either the MAF or the CPS. I have
an extra MAF if you want to rule that out. I don't have an extra CPS but you
could swap the one from Franks car to test that. A very bad boost leak can
cause this as well, like if a hose blows completely off. To check this if you
unplug the MAF the car will run good enough to drive home without stalling.
Maybe try that first, then the MAF swap and then the CPS. Let me know what
happens or if I can help.

Elijah

was driving down highway at 60, accelerated to 110 and the car felt like it
was hesitating lightly, then worked fine, slowed back down to 60. 2 miles
later it started missing/hesitating agian, I pressed the gas and got no
response, down shifted and heard the engine still running through the stromung, pr
essed gas again and got no response, then dash lights came on and the car died.
would not start again for 15 minutes, once started it ran for 20 seconds and
stalled, also the idle fluctuated between 700-1000 rpms then died, 10 minutes
later started again and stalled after a few seconds, what happened? car is
sitting in a random driveway 20 miles from home as I could not find a flatbed
at midnight.
could be fuel pump, plugs, coil pack, pos, cps? replaced pos's a year ago,
hmmm.
towed it backward 30 feet into a driveway with friends 200, and for a second
heard a grinding noise, what could that be? heard it when first started
pulling car only for a second,(sounded like an exhaust pipe rubbing against
pavement, but nothing is hanging off car)
also while analyzing the issues, I was turning the wheel back and forth and
heard a rattle, somthing is loose up front. tierod???
advice on these issues
thanks much
Forrest
