an open track environment with limited passing tends to emphasize
horsepower.  even if you're all over him in the corners, you're not
allowed to pass in the corners, and on the straights, he'll pull away
from you.  if you're not down too much on power, you can get a run at
him coming out of the corner, but that initial speed advantage can quickly
be wiped out by a large horsepower difference.

you don't have to be a very good driver if your car has a lot of power.

paul newman won the GTS-1 class in the 24 hours of daytona in 1995, 
driving a mustang.  he was 70 at the time.  this year, he'll be 80 
when he takes the green flag in a daytona prototype.
