[s-cars] RE: ac recharge port

Charging is done via high side port with ENGINE OFF!!!. 750g +- 50g. 250cc's
refrigerant oil or less depending on your guess for how much is left in the
system. Charge checking is done at high side using the below chart. The
whole car needs to be ambient so indoor shade is required and car will need
cool off for a long period windows down and hood up. Engine heat will throw
off charge testing. I also learned that after charging you have to wait
before guage readings are accurate. The freon needs to move throughout the
system and itself become ambient temp. Of course if you have it apart you
may be able to install a R134a low side port in the system to make things
simpler or use schrader valves with adaptor at compressor or low pressure
switch. From memory I'm not sure the port on the compressor is low pressure.
It's closer the the discharge port than the suction port. Verify before
attaching since death can occur from incorrect connections. Cold A/C will no
longer be needed at that point. UrS4/S6 Bentley is where this data comes
from and has complete procedures for A/C. If your doing it yourself I'd
refer to it.
