The majority of listers use top-posting, as that is the default of most
e-mail browsers. Personally, I don't care for bottom-posting as I don't
like having to read/scroll through the same text over and over again
just to get to the new information. Bottom-posting is for people that
can't keep track of what's going on in a thread ;-)
I want to be able to quickly scan the messages and get the info I want.
Top-posting best suits that. And if you forgot what the question was,
well it is referenced at the bottom. It's a Jeopardy world out there.
Embrace it. I will use bottom-posting only when I'm replying to a whole
series of questions since in that case it's a little easier to follow,
though it's more like intermingled posting. It all depends on the
format of the original post.
Seriously, the S-car list has always been a 'laissez faire' list,
despite certain recent attempts to change that, so do what you feel
comfortable with. There are no strict guidelines. Most folks on the
list realize life is too short to worry about USENET protocols and other
silly useless stuff. Do whatever makes sense to you.
Have a Happy 4th of July folks!
