Subject: [s-cars] all new coils
122k mile 5 coil change btdt yesterday afternoon. About a 2 ½ hr process.
Most of which was spent figuring out how to methodically reroute the new
wires through the wire insulation sleeves. I can only summarize by
reporting that throughout most of the process my brain was dazed and
confused as there were wires running all over the place. I was truly amazed
whenst it started up perfect on the first try.
I incorporated the Paul Gailus 5amp waterproof in line fuse procedure for
each coil to the yellow wires, thankyouverymuch Paul. This will prevent a
total shut down in the event on a coil shorting to ground, btdt:(
Since the fuse holders are a bit bulky, this would not necessarily be termed
an elegant looking installation but function rules over being stranded
somewhere for me. I guess the wires could be extended to a panel inside the
cabin somewhere, but this was easier.
The best part of all this is that all stumble at WOT has disappeared and the
pig is flying once again.
Is there a way to test the old coils to determine which one may have been
defective I wonder?
Next up: the KrazyMance preloaded front strut brace and maybe I'll even take
off my snow tires now. Don't ask.
Cheers

Baloney-
I hear ya. Got my snows dismounted 3 weeks ago. Shame too the centers ran near bald whoops. D'oh. Nice to have the CUMho's on tho they shure are fun 8-). You mount up your F1's again? On what 'wheels' heh heh??? Welded the valve stem hole on them iForge's and bought runflats maybe?
I further hear ya on the miss, and seems many others are too lately. Appears to be a high prevalence of 'missing cars' lately (ignition miss that is), planned obsolescence? I'm like at least 2 months along the sputtering road of 'no time lately to bother fixing'. Sucks. Thinking I really should get around to looking into it. Maybe next month. Keeps me from 'speeding' (speeding being a relative thing I guess) and my MPG's sure have improved from staying off the gigglepedal, got that much going for me.
Least you didn't have to remove the trans to do the coils. Or maybe you did.
ps. shame on you for having so many cars and having them all 'work'...
