[s-cars] coil diagnosing

Morning gents-
So I finally had a millisecond to determine my now like 8-week old+ miss
is a failing coil, just as my gut suspected. Swapped out coil covers
with Domo Oregato Mr. Rossato Friday. Genius me forgot that I'd done a
POS channel swap so that temporarily had us confounded until Bob used
his Spidey Engineering Sense and wised up to the matter and we then
swapped the prong in the coil plug to match.
So... now on to WHICH of the 5. We briefly tried the SJM suggestion of
laying the cover on wood with boots / plugs installed and injectors
unplugged hoping to catch a visual. However the plugs seem to need to
be 'compressed' into the boots by the tightened down coil pack cover.
WTF are we missing there? Surely SJM isn't wrong but we couldn't figure
it out. Even Bob (scary).
Isn't there an impedance or conductivity or whatever test to try as
well? Can someone handhold me here? I promise to call you in the
morning...
Also of note, or maybe not... all 5 coils had a slight bluish char on
one side, and #4 had it on both sides. Does this mean anything? I know
many here seem to report #4 failure being most prevalent. 149,997 on
them.
Anywho, any thought / insight appreciated. Maybe within the coming oh 8
or so weeks I'll resolve it. I *did* test drive with Bob's installed
briefly and returned saying "thanks see ya later"... but that
unfortunately didn't work. Damn.
