I have Hawk HPS w/993TT calipers and they never STOP
squealing. If driving spiritedly they don't, but for
around town driving they are exceedingly loud.
For those of you using anti-squeal goop, what are you
using and how much of a pain in the ass is it to put
on?
Alex
Alex,
Sorry for being late to this thread but vacation interrupted my email.
I have the same 993TT calipers and Hawk HPS'. I have had a similar
experience with brake squeal with those pads. I tried the shims,
traditional goop, and some stuff the you spray on the pad wear surface
itself(it said it was guarenteed to work), but no joy. I switched to
Textar pads with some Nissan copper impregnated grease, which worked for
about a month.
The Textars squealed on "medium" brake pressure after warming up, but no
where near as ear piercing as the Hawks.
Went to a track event thinking I'd burn up those noisy Hawk HPS' and switch
back to the Textars. The Hawks stayed quite for a month after the track
event (I guess beating on them really does work, for a while at least) and
then started squealing again, so I switched to the Textars. This time I
used some "CRC Disc Brake Quiet", it comes in a 4 oz bottle and has worked
for OVER a month now, knock on wood.
I try a method of bedding similar to what is posted on the StopTech site
FWIW.
Good Luck, let me know if you find another solution.
