[s-cars] coolant leaking onto floor

where is the valve that controls the coolant flow through the heater core located, could this be the source of the leak?  the leak is only a drip, but is pretty consistant, I'm guessing that when I had the floor vents cranked on a lot of coolant sprayed onto the floor creating the bigger spot in the middle.  looks to be dripping up near the gas pedal and on the passenger side near the dash and center console intersection.
 
so if the vents are on then coolant is spreading through the venting system?  this will eventually dry out yes?  never saw any coolant on the wind shield with defog on, though it was a little foggy but slowly clearing, and it was hazzy outside.  really does not smell much at all either, guess thats good.
 
will the core need to be pulled to change the valve if thats the problem?  I have a spare core allready, is there a way to check it to be assured this will not happen again soon?  any idea how long it takes a good mechanic to pull and reinstall core? price guess?
