[s-cars] BMW 530ix a UrS4 replacement?

Delving in to my foggy memory banks I seem to recall that they added
more rear bias to the new RS4. Perhaps Quattro is finally "fixed" on
that car at least.

The E30 325ix, E46's, and X5 (pre 2004ish) all had a pretty crappy
triple-open-differential setup which relied on basically "Triple EDL"
to control wheelspin with the brakes when the surface traction wasn't
even left vs right , or 38% front, 62% rear.
However the new 3 series, later X5's and the new 5 series have the
X-Drive, which is a very competent AWD system and I would rate it as
better than Quattro in several categories, espeically in that it has a
natural rear bias and is actively controlled to regulate
understeer/oversteer behaviour. So far haven't seen "Quattro" do
that...
I'd be happy with either system, but I wouldn't take a older
triple-open-diff system unless I was really forced to.
Cheers,
Keith
