yes, the prices are cheap for the coils. I have a friend looking into the connectors. We have used these with a standalone fuel management on a jetta. From memory, they have two grounds, a power and trigger contacts. I can't remember what the order is. Its hell getting old.
Let me know if you find a good source for the connectors.

Christopher and Mike: I have been posting all over on Audi World (B5 and B6 A4's 1.8t, 2.7t) and VW Vortex (Golf/Jetta IV, B5 and B6) forums asking for information about the pin outs on the "115 L" 1.8 t coil pack. This is the one with the built in POS. It has four pins (as opposed to our coils). Nothing yet. A friend is bringing a Jetta IV Bentley to work so I can have a look at it. I think this has the potential to be a winner.
The four pin connectors are available from the dealers. Not cheap but available. If this goes, it may be wise to develop a DIY instructions AND a GP on the connectors and/or the coil packs. I bought one for CDN$40 taxes in so the price is VERY reasonalb.e

Not sure of the longevity of these since there were a few recalls on them but the sure would be cheap. Check back with me as I may find time this weekend to try this out for shits and giggles. I don't know the answer re the 1.8 /or 2.7 tt Audi coils, but I'm told
FWIW
that some, at least one or more persons have been looking at a GM
product
(the Corvette) coils as possible replacements. This would entail
substituting spark plug wires for the plug boots, and remotely locating
the
replacement coils else wheres in the engine compartment, as opposed to
in
the head where they tend to get, and stay pretty hot.
No word on when, if ever this proposed solution may actually be
implemented.
But I am, as we speak, sitting with one car without a good set of coils
waiting for an answer.
