[s-cars] HID Lighting

Hi Bruce:
I've dealt with HID tech before, they carry projectors for doing
retrofits. I originally planned to retrofit a e-code projector from a C5
A6 into my C4 S6, but got frustrated when I could get it to fit without
a lot of messing around. Others have been successful with this retrofit
and they seem happy with the results. This is your cheapest option to
get true e-code xenons.
I ended up buying the e-code S6 HIDs that were a factory option on the
1995-97 S6 and standard on the S6+. These are very pricey, last time I
checked they were over 2000 euros. I got mine used on ebay.de, for less
than half that and they did come with the leveling motors, but not the
switch. I bought the thumbwheel switch from Europrice, but haven't got
around to installing it yet. Actually, thanks for reminding me, I have
to get this little project finished...
If you do go with the OEM xenons, you won't be disappointed, factory
fit, super sharp cut-off and bright. The downside is initial cost and
should one of the bulbs go, they are not replaceable as a separate item
and come bundled with the igniter and ballast.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
