A lot of insight could be gained if someone could put a
scope on the drive signal to these coil units on a running
1.8T engine. You could at least get the pulse widths and
signal levels.
Putting a current probe around the coil battery connection
and 'scoping it would also be very useful. That way you
could see the current ramp up and determine its maximum level.
These results could then be compared to what we've got
on the AAN.
