Dave:  The coils have to be the non-bolt down style with the built in
POS.  I am thinking your 99.5 may still have external POSs (one unit
with four outputs).  But I could be wrong.  Thanks for volunteering
though.  (Especially if you have the POS/coil units that I am talking
about).

I am thinking the way to go may just to do it (properly and correctly),
with a wiring harness from the POS connections, a switched hot and some
grounds).  Cross fingers and turn key (and hope).

Or not.
