[s-cars] "Anti-lock off" dash light

Sounds like a plausability failure of one of the sensors. My guess would
be that the air gap on one of the sensors you cleaned is too big, and
sensor is hanging a 0 speed for one wheel. The ABS system can't detect
that with ohmic monitoring, but can compare the 4 wheelspeeds, and when
one hangs at 0, it takes some driving to detect the fault. (could be a
few hundred yards) -verify the airgap -matchbook cover Kent said(?)

The grinding noise kind of scares me. I hope you aren't grinding a wheel
speed sensor on the tone ring, and that the noise is just the
pads/rotors getting burnished!

Subject: [s-cars] "Anti-lock off" dash light

Brake guru's,

I replaced the front rotors, brake pads and caliper seals on my '93S
with a
kit from Blau this weekend. This work was done to the all-stock G60's.
(I
know, I know.) All seemed to go well, but I am getting some fairly loud
grinding noise that I am attributing to the new pads needing some time
to
bed-in.

Now my problem, after a few hundred yards of driving, the "Anti-lock
Off"
light comes on in the dash. I didn't even know this existed on our
cars. I
have a mere 40 or so miles on the new items, so I know I still need some
break-in, but I have never heard of this issue, or this warning light
for
that matter. I have re-started the car several times thinking it might
be
confused by the addition of new parts, but the light comes back on each
time. Brakes definitely feel different with new pads, but this is the
first
set of pads and rotors I have done on this car, so I have little
reference
to know for sure if something is wrong.

I did pull the ABS sensors for cleaning and suppose I may have fouled
that
up somehow, but would love to hear some other thoughts as to what this
may
be. BTW, I have checked the brake fluid, and the level is fine. The
fluid
(Super Blue) and lines (stainless) were replaced ~8k ago.

TIA for any help.
