[s-cars] Third RF remote lost!

So, I finally lost my third RF remote. This little skinny plastic ring keeps
breaking, preferably when I'm not looking and the remote goes south... as I
usually buy them from there.
 
Now, I'm a bit tired of replacing my remote every year because of this
little plastic ring. So I went to my beloved - and somewhat weird - family
album who told me that three types of RF remote work on a 97 S6 - I said my
album is somewhat weird as he says 95.5 and 96 S6 have IR remotes! - so I
could use the thick two buttons remote or the key with the two button remote
in the handle, fixed type, not switchblade. Anyone tried this?
 
Besides, is it possible to hook a new remote receiver on a S6, compatible
with the switchblade remotes, as it seems to be feasible on the older cars
with IR receivers, dixit Gabriel Caldwell?
 
Last option is to mould a reinforced concrete case for the skinny remote but
I'm afraid the concrete will be a bit harsh on my pockets ;-)
