[s-cars] Where to get a tranny?

Now that I've got a mechanic I can afford, I'd just like to ask if
anyone knows of a really great place to buy a used S4 6-speed. I've
already asked at Shokan.com but they quoted me $2400, which I think is
a little steep coming off a severely wrecked car. Anyone got any
ideas?

Just for a little background, I have an earlier S6 with the weak first
gear, and of course, mine is already badly galled. It sounds like a
playing card slapping against the spokes of a 10 speed. Not good.
Anyway, I'd like to keep the car for another year or two, but really
need to consider making it ready for sale, in case I find what I've
been looking for (a perfect arena red 98 993 coupe 6-speed with under
50K miles for around 30 grand). That may take a while, so in the mean
time, I'd like to have a car that's ready to collect top dollar and is
fun for me to drive at the same time.
