Charging thru the high side port can be done but never with the
engine/ac running.
I've sucessfully done it on my coupe and will soon on the S. You must
start with the system empty and in a deep vacuum. (standard evacuation
is fine). With the engine OFF you charge the refrigerant thru the high
side port as a liquid. (charging can upside down).
You can get the entire charge amount in with this method without ever
firing up the motor or a/c. Much quicker than traditional gas
charging thru the low side.
