Mike,
Have you considered going the after market route? There are quite a
few good, rebuildable, after market units available. I had problems
with the 710N unit on my normally high boost (26-28psi) S4 only seeing
22ish PSI. I swapped in a Bailey Motorsports DV70 and found the
missing psi.
I have since moved on to a Stratomosphere Hyperboost HX, and feel it
has a quicker piston then the DV70 had. The Forge 007 unit is also
very popular, and comes with extra springs for different boost levels.
They sell new anywhere from $115-$149. eBay is also a good source for
these, since buying a used one is no worse then buying a new one. All
you do is take it apart, lube it up, and go!
I had sold one of the Hoppen Motorpsort/MTM units that I bought from
lister Nick Doshi, to another S-car fellow, since I had acquired the
Bailey unit before putting the Hoppen one in. The gentleman who bought
the Hoppen/MTM one from me said in a few weeks it shattered and blew
open. I don't want any FOD to happen to my expensive turbo from a
plastic BPV, but that's just me.
There are many out there who say the 710N is just fine, but I figure
for ~$50 more, you get added security and longevity. Why not?
