Slightly off from 90 is ok.  80 degrees should be acceptable.  I
wouldn't go much more than 15 degrees off from vertical though.  The
basic problem is that the return line must see absolutely no pressure at
all.  With the turbo sideways, oil is more restricted (it has to go
'across' before it can go 'down') and would eventually destroy the
turbo.
