Operate only in the installed position with the controller.
I like cultivated though, sounds sophisticated.

Hey Jerry,
According to babelfish "Nur im angebauten Zustand mit Steuergeraet
betreiben" translates to "Operate only in the cultivated condition with
controller".
I've had exactly the same problem with my '93 S4 for about ten months
now, but after blowing cold air for quite some time I found that if I
left the climate control at "HI" I would usually get hot air, so I've
lived with it this winter. I have a new temperature flap control motor
sitting in the basement just waiting for the warm weather and a long
weekend to install it.
I remember coming across an article online somewhere that detailed
cleaning/repairing a sticking HVAC flap motor for the S4/S6, but I can't
seem to locate it now. The gist of it was that you carefully take it
apart, clean all the crap out (mainly carbon brush dust if I recall
correctly), lightly lubricate and replace. Some one else did mention
though that they experienced the failure again after doing this only a
few months later, but given the cost of the flap control motor it may be
worth a try.
I'd be interested in any information or pointers you could give me on
locating and removing the temperature flap control motor. The Bentley
CD-ROM I have is not terribly clear in respect to this motor, and from
the (very brief) look I had under the wiper/HVAC cowl cover at the back
of the engine bay, it was not immediately obvious how much I had to take
apart to get to it.
Good luck and let me know how it goes!
