[s-cars] Universal 02 sensors and more...

Chris is quite right. I spent about 80 hours at Bosch headquarters learning
their systems a few years back. Every other night we'd take the instructor
out for dinner and drinks, and after a few rounds we'd get him to divuldge
juicy details that he wasnt supposed to talk about in class. One was that
most pre-OBD-2 Euro O2 sensors are relatively the same internally, it was in
fact the connector and length of wire that was different. The other
difference internally was the where the sensor is to be placed in the
exhaust system, as far as how far downstream it should be. A sensor that is
placed in the exhaust manifold is not the same as one placed near the cat.
Usually EM sensors don't have heaters, but that's not always the case.
Anyway, best bet is to always go with the correct P#, but in pre-96 cars,
you can afford to play with the universals or ones that simply fit. Anyway,
in an attmept to get my 94S4 into the 20mpg and higher range, last night i
replaced the O2 sensor with the 13019, swapped in a warmer t-stat, gave it a
good fuel injection and top end cleaning service. I'll be putting a good 2k
miles on n the next few weeks, so we'll see!

That's good news. Now this may be a dumb question: as far as sensing
oxygen, are all 3-wire bosch oxygen sensors the same? The only thing
that's different is the connector? Or do the internals differ also?
