I always thought the clip design was really poor. They are prone to break,
and then they only want to sell you the whole headlight.

I have seen a post somewhere for remaking the clip from a clay mold and
epoxy. But that would still be prone to break.

I took a piece of thick ABS, I got somewhere. Cut it to about the same size
height wise and length wise to the original clip, but solid. I drilled
hole it, a little larger than the fastner. I broke the receiving clip in half
at the bend. I JB welded it to the solid piece of ABS, directly over the hole
I drilled in it.

I put the piece of ABS under the hole in the hood support and screwed in the
fastner. I didn't tighten it up all the way. I then JB welded the bottom
of my fabricationed piece of ABS to the top of the headlight housing. Left it
overnight. Tightened up the fastner, and didn't have a problem again on
that part of the headlight. Now it is solid.

All,

In my ongoing saga, I have a question about headlight tabs.

When I disassembled my front end and side, I found that one of the
tabs on the top of the headlight was broken off. Has anyone
successfully repaired one of these?

The patient is a 95.5 S6 Avant minus its passenger side fender and
bumper after kissing a signpost.
