In my ongoing quest to replace my bumper after a bone-headed maneuver,
I want to ask the lists opinion and solicit experienced advice.
My options are:
1) Buy a new stock bumper from stealer, bout $1200
2) Buy a new bumper skin from same, bout $900, plus the work of
drilling out pop-rivets on old bumper, removing damaged skin,
replacing with new, and all misc. bits and pieces, or
3) Buy an S6+ bumper new, bout $955, plus $350 shipping for total of $1300.
Option 1 is straightforward and minimal work.
Option 2 is unknown amount of work. I have never done pop-rivet work
and it looks like there is more to it than just drilling out the
rivets holding the skin to the foundation. Has anyone actually done
this that could provide feedback? The FA shows at least two different
rivet sizes and I don't know if that would require two different rivet
tools or not. Plus I would need to source more bits and pieces to make
it whole.
Option 3 is definitely the coolest, but I would lose my 5 mph pistons
and probably have to trim it around the IC plus mounting different
side clips to the fenders. Various listers have indicated that it is
not an easy installation.
So, what's the list say/advise?
