Emmett,
I have a problem right now that I suspect may be the WGFV as quite often I
will spike up to 23-24 psi and then the computer will cut it down to 15-17
and then it may happen all over again. Other times I am fine. This is kind
of the opposite problem of what you are having but I wouldn't doubt that
this is due to my WGFV. I just haven't gotten around to it.

Subject: [s-cars] WGFV Issues
I've been having an erradic boost problem the last few months, symptoms
below:
Normal boost max is around 17-19. Once and a while at WOT boost is catching
around 12 then after a couple seconds shooting up to max. Boost used to be
very linear up to max, now its very hesitant and catches at points,
sometimes it will just stay at around 10.
Well tonight I charged the system to make sure there were no leaks, charged
it up to around 15 and nothing but some air coming out of the oil fill cap.
Determined no boost leak
Second I plugged the turbo line to the WGFV, let me say wow. Make sure if
you do this you keep very close attention to your boost gauge. It would go
up to 25+ under half throttle. Very impressive, and scary for the engine.
Well, boost behaved like it used to, straight up to, well beyond max. It is
my understanding that is very rare for the WGFV to go bad. It has a good
amount of corrosion, I cleaned off the leads to see if that would help but I
have yet to unplug the turbo line (its very hot right now). So I dont know
if maybe it was just getting a bad connection, I'll find out tomorrow when I
hook it back up. Has anyone actually experienced this go bad on them? Is
there a way to maybe spray some cleaner of some sort up in it? Well Thanks
for your help. Emmett
