[s-cars] Re Wheel/Tire Performance

First, I would argue that it's certainly worth
refinishing your 16" 5 spoke S wheels if for no other
reason that they're almost impossible to find anymore
and I think are actually better looking than the later
Avus style wheel.

Second, I would still suggest getting a larger
wheel/tire setup. I just got the HRSB installed today
and think it's fantastic. I'm still riding stock
suspension, but will be going the most aggressive
route I can once the bank account replenishes! I'm
keeping my 16's for winter use and will get larger
wheels/tires later this year. I have yet to determine
what size, but probably 18". the roads where I live
aren't as bad as where you are, so potholes aren't as
big a concern.

I suspect you'll find that there is simply too much
sidewall with the 16" wheels to truly be able to
exploit the modified suspension and the HRSB. Plus
there's certainly an aesthetic aspect to the larger
wheels that is appealing.

As far as what tires to go with, I have no experience
with either tire you're considering. I do have
experience with Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position
and Michelin Pilot Sports, both of which I couldn't be
happier with. These, however, will be completely
useless in bad Wintery weather, or for that matter
even when it gets below 50 out.

Anyway that's my $.02 worth.

Good luck
