Randy was definitely mistaken.  I happen to know that the transmission builder had one of the six speeds unclaimed by Champion left over.  Apparently, the transmissions lasted better than they thought they would, so they didn't buy it. It is basically a RS4 box (like RS2, but with the pump) and has shotpeened gears, but is otherwise pretty much standard 01E.  It sold for one tenth that price, and is going in a wild S2 being built in IL.

Randy Pobst told us that the manual transmissions in the RS6 were well
over $50k. Better look elsewhere... <g>
