Joshua;
I've re-keyed the older cylinders, didn't realize the S6 was different. On
the older cylinders you removed the lock tumblers by inserting the key,
removing the circlip at the end of the cylinder, and withdrawing the
cylinder and tumblers from the lock assembly. Removing the key releases the
tumblers and springs which then shoot all over the workshop, resulting in a
brief pause to search for lost parts. If you wanted to rekey a new cylinder
you had to transfer the tumblers that matched the key from the old cylinder
to the new cylinder.
I would imagine the S6 lock should be the same - inserting the key moves the
tumblers so they are flush with the cylinder surface, allowing it to be
removed. Or not :)

Subject: [s-cars] Re-keying 95.5 and up side cut lock cylinders
Does anyone know how to re-key a side cut lock cylinder, as used in a
1995.5 S6? Some know nothing former mechanic put in the old style lock,
so I've got a new lock cylinder here, ready to install, but I've got to
figure out how to re-key it to match the existing keys. I've been able
to get the end piece that turns the ignition switch out by driving out
the roll pin, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to
disassemble the lock cylinder.
Any clues?
