Carefully remove the 6 little bolts that hold the cap in place. Be
careful as you remove the last one becausr the spring will be pushing
against the top of the cap. Check your WG screw and continue to drill
the top out with the cap off the WG. HTH

Subject: [s-cars] Waste gate cap - spring screw access question

II tried posting this earlier today but the list was apparently down.
Like Chris Chambers I decided to try turning down the wastegate a few
turns. So I go out the car to drill through the thin cap insert and
then remove the epoxy so I get at the hex head of the wastegate
screw/bolt. WRONG!!! It turns out my waste gate cap is solid, no
removable center
cap and so far no epoxy plug underneath. Mine cap is solid aluminum and
I have no clue what I am drilling through. (already 4 mm or so). So two
things:

1) I am curious to find out whether I am unique or not with this solid
cap and
2) anybody with a photo they could send showing me the back side of the
solid or the removable center mini-cap cap. (you know what I mean). I
need to "see" what I am doing - I may have to take this cap off and have
center machined out and or threaded for a plug (like the X plug on the
powersteering pump).

Thanks in advance.

Dave F.
