Brian;
So, you got one OK bomb test and one bad one. That may indicate that the
bomb can hold pressure but something else is allowing it to leak out with
the engine stopped. That something else could be:
1) Bad check valve in the bomb (replace the bomb)
2) leaking brake servo (replace the servo)
There is a servo test. You run the engine to pressurize the bomb and stop
the engine. Remove the RETURN line from the servo body (the line that runs
from the servo to the hydraulic fluid reservoir). No more than a few drops
of fluid should leak from the servo. If more is leaking out, the servo is
allowing pressure to discharge from the bomb and needs to be replaced.
NOTE!!!! Make sure to remove the RETURN line. If you remove the wrong one
you will release fluid at 2000 psig and risk severe personal injury (not to
mention making a mess of your engine compartment). If you aren't CERTAIN
you've got the right line, don't even bother with this test.
Did you run the engine long enough between tests to fully recharge the bomb?
Sometimes it takes a while, but if the brake light went off it should be
pressurized.
HTH
Fred

Subject: [s-cars] bomb test results & replacement q's
thanks to mr. fred munro for the bomb test knowledge.
on 1st start there were no signs of bad pedal feel...turn engine off... the
pedal stayed resilient for 26 pumps
not satisfied (sure) with the results, i started the car again... horrible
shaking pedal..engine off..lasted 3 pumps.
no brake warning light at all.
i guess i should order in the morning, unless these results, being
inconsistent sound more servo or master cyl related...???
anyone have words of wisdom for replacement. as far as fasteners that will
be unusable again. special tools needed?
its this toilet buoy looking thing near the front bumper right?
thanks again guys, -brian
