I'd say, stay away. AFAIK the bulb is not available as a spare part in 
those overpriced to the tune of $2,000/ea headlights.

DOT OEM crappy headlights + Euro Hella clear glass + E46/E38/TT OEM 
Hella HID projector + OEM Hella HID ballast. If you source the latter 
from Germany, like I did, you'll get the European Asymmetrical beam to boot.

I have just finished converting the blind OEM DOT Halogens in my wife's 
2004 Allroad to the European Asymmetrical HID. Only in her car I used 
the Euro A6 HID projectors.
