[s-cars] Hydraulic pump leak - common?

I noticed yesterday that there appears to be some fluid leaking from the 
hydraulic pump on my '93 S4.  It appears to be seeping from between the 
front and rear halves of the hydraulic pump assembly, and from the 
amount of "wet" area underneath and down the side of the engine it 
appears to have been doing it for at least a short while now.

Is this a common type of failure for our cars?  Is there an easy fix for 
this (ie - replacing a gasket), or is it time to start looking for a 
new hydraulic pump?

Any BTDTs would be helpful.
