Eugene,

Black is okay, people either want it or not. It's not a color that 
will drive price up.

If the car is in very good shape, $12K would not be unreasonable. 
I got about that for my car with 150K miles on it a year ago, but 
I had done some upgrades - brakes, suspension, wheels, radar, 
etc.

A '99 A6 wagon has the 2.8 motor and the first year of the new 
body. Not surprised that it's in the same price range.

There's a 2000 A8 for sale locally with 100K miles, for $13K. Now 
*that* sounds like an interesting deal. :) I haven't seen pics yet 
or heard anything much about the car.
