[s-cars] FMIC info digested...

After reading all the opinions, I'd like to thank you all for taking the
time to point out other sources.
I think that to start, I may change to an early all-metal stock UrS-IC,
with Samco hoses. Maybe after I put in a mild chip, I'll think about some
FMIC or another - or maybe the FMIC fairies will deliver and install one
some night, just because I've been such a good boy. :)
I guess I have stuff I *need* to do first, which sort of puts the "want to
do" stuff behind somewhat. New pads, flexible lines, rotors and bomb, for
starters. After reading all the wisdom here, I'm guessing that with the
mechanical aptitude I have, it shouldn't be that big of a job. Flush both
the hydraulic and brake system with new fluids, and I'll be good to go for a
while. BTW, I also appreciate the opinions on the brakes. I'd love to
upsize, but unless the brake fairies also show up along with the FMIC
fairies (hey, it there a union?), mild upgrades in rotors/pad materials are
where I'm headed. I'm a little more afraid of the clutch job that may be due
in the next couple of years. Engagement is high, and the pedal is damned
stiff. While the cost will be lower than with the brakes, delving into the
very guts of the drivetrain seems like a bigger job. I dunno - you tell me!
:)
Now that I've had the car for a couple of months, I've noticed something. I
like blowing away stoplight-racer rice boys. In addition, my daughter now
urges me to "go faster, Daddy!" Hmm, a chip off the ol' block, I say. She's
got 12 years before she gets to enjoy the Dark Side.
Finally, I see the slippery slope. I see the draw, and feel it pulling.
450WHP, you say. Hmmm. Well, that's a lot more fun than 200WHP. But I shall
resist - 300HP ought to be good enough. I realize that it's always "just a
little bit more", but it has to end somewhere, right? Right?!?
Heh.
Eric
