First thank you to Brian Powell for taking the time to help/do the
install for me today. And thank you to Dave Forgie for the instructions!
Brian showed up at noon today with a few bits and pieces in hand in
including the Official VAG Tool to measure fuel pressure from the fuel
pump that sits outside the hood on your windshield. Unfortunately we
were missing a few pieces in the kit and never could get it to work
correctly. So we used my fuel pressure gauge that was extended outside
the car and duct taped on the hood of the car. Brian also took his
multimeter and took voltage directly off the fuel pump power feed. We
saw around 12.5 Volts at idle. We then took her for a spin around the
block and again saw 80 PSI under boost around 5K and would drop to 60
PSI after that. Voltage on the fuel pump would drop to around 12.1 to
12.2 volts WOT.
Brian then did the relay modification, extremely clean install, and we
instantly saw 13.2 volts at idle. Took her out for a spin and the fuel
pressure would only drop down to 70 PSI.
Still not perfect..but we did find 10 PSI and .8 volts by doing this
mod. Now need to get back to the dyno to see if this helped my A/F
curves or if I need to put in my new Bosch Motorsport 044 fuel pump.
Thanks again Brian and Dave
