Douglas,
I had a 92 do the same thing a few years ago. It was the POS and I did the
spare channel swap.
It took a while for it to get bad enough to diagnose. Diagnose by pulling
injectors and finding the cylinder that does not change when the injector is
pulled.
If you are going on a road trip, maybe you should bring the POS swap
instructions with you. Or you can bring a $pare?
I don't think it is a good idea to drive it for any length of time on 4
cylinders as the stink from the cat is pretty severe and the rich exhaust
will likely cause damage to the cat.

Subject: [s-cars] The Dreaded Miss
S-Hedz,
Today, while running errands, I pulled out of a parking lot only to
experience what I believe to be a miss in the old AAN. There was no wild
driving involved. Simply moving along with a light foot, park, turn off, go
in, come out, start up, rough running. I limped home on four cylinders and
about three miles from the garage, it went away. Damn. I hate it when it
does that.
Later, I ran my daughter to some event and the car seemed fine - with one
exception. While sitting at a light, the miss came back for about two or
three seconds. It smoothed out again before the light changed.
So, is it a coil? POS? Something else? Hard to diagnose when it's not there.
Any suggestions? Damn, I hate it when it does that. Need to get to the
bottom of this before the Thanksgiving road trip. All thoughts appreciated.
Damn.
