[s-cars] Dreaded won't start

And the dreaded won't talk to VAG-COM.
The coils and associated wiring may show some white residue
where it shorts to ground.  Probably the only physical evidence
of a bad coil or wiring.  The POS won't show much physically unless
it is x-rayed.  Probably won't have any fault codes when you get the
ECU back on line, but there are not many other possibilities for problem
causes that will shut you down without a fault code.

I get the In .0 inspection code on occasion as well, sometimes hidden  
below
the In 1 or 2 so it is evident only when those are reset.  Then  
later, it's not there.

I asked the service writer at the local dealer who replied, " that's  
a special
inspection", then was too busy to discuss it further.

I talked to the service manager about how to reset the In .0 and he  
didn't
have a clue, but was sure they could take care of it for the $70  
diagnostic
fee.
